For those of us who believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior, this week and weekend should have us pause and remember what a gift we have been given. I've been thinking about eternity a lot the last few months - maybe more than I ever have. These lives we are living now are so short and such a tiny picture of history and eternity. Yet right now they are everything to us. We celebrate and grieve, we suffer and rejoice, we have good days and bad days. In our grieving and suffering and bad days, though, we already have victory in eternity because we believe in the One who already reigns victorious - forever.
There's a line in one of these videos that says "we're not fighting for victory, we're worshiping from a place of victory". That line has carried me through a lot of days over the past few months. Our God has already won. Our suffering and grief will not last forever. We are victorious in Him and He will always be victorious. Let's remember that this week and going into this weekend. He is victorious in our pain, in our life and in all of eternity.
Because He is God and because He has already defeated death.
With that said, here are 8 songs I've had on repeat for the last few months. Some days I need to hear them and remember that despite my circumstances, He is already victorious, even if I can't see it yet. Some days they are an avenue into worship because I just need to praise Him for the victories I can already see. Whether you are in the midst of the battle or walking in the victory of the battle, these songs somehow fit both of those and I hope they encourage you and lead you into a place of worship like they have me.
And, Happy Easter! HE IS RISEN!
